Bachata is a dance rhythm from Dominican Republic. It is considered a hybrid of the bolero (especially the bolero rhythm) with other musical influences of African and other styles such as son, merengue, cha-cha-cha and tango.
Bachata was born in the Dominican Republic and has traveled the world with their contagious rhythm, the romantic lyrics of his songs, both of love and lovelessness, the bachata emerged as a pure expression of the people to cry his loving pains with rhythm .
Voices like Teodoro Reyes, Joe Veras, Luis Vargas, Antony Santos, Frank Reyes, Yóskar Sarante, Luis Miguel del Amargue, Raulin Rodriguez, Joe Veras, Zacarias Ferreira, among others, are the legion of new stars of the genre. Appear as pairs Monchy and Alexandra, and groups like Aventura which are part of the new generation of artists.
The way the couples dance bachata in Vancouver isn’t the traditional way the Dominicans do it back home. Here dancers have adopted a new style of bachata, which has more turns and a lot of close body connection partnering.
The traditional way to dance focuses mostly on open partner work, footwork, syncopations and feeling the music in a different way.
Whatever style you choose to learn or to dance, it is important to have fun, feel the rhythm of the music, and that your partner feel comfortable dancing with you.
If you are now in salsa classes should also learn to dance bachata because all salsa clubs also play bachata. Moreover, the bachata is the rhythm of the moment, is a musical style that is going through all the stages of the world.
